Putting the Weapon Together

1. Unwrap the loose end of the wire from the tang of the blade and straiten out.
2. Place the blade in a vice or grip with vice-grips at the tang end of the blade (but not on the tang).

3. Check the hole in the bell guard for a dimple. This dimple should line up with the wire on the blade.

4. Slide the tang of the blade AND the loose end of the wire through the hole in the bell guard. The guard should slide all the way up the tang to where the blade becomes square.

5. Slide the body-cord plug over the tang AND wire all the way to the inside of the guard and hold in place.

6. Check that the insulation over the wire is going through the socket and the bell guard. Push the wire directly up against the guard and hold in place.

7. Slide the thumb pad over the tang of the blade (wire does not go through the pad). Hold pad and wire in place.

8. Slide Grip over the tang of the blade. There should be a dimple in the grip that lines up with the wire so that when pushed against the guard, the grip does not pinch the wire. Push the grip against the guard ensuring that the wire lines up with the dimple.

9. Replace the pommel nut and tighten. (Do not over-tighten as you can easily strip the threads).

10. The plastic insulation is sometimes too long, expecially if it came prewired and included with the blade. Measure out enough plastic insulation to cover the wire all the way to the body cord plug with extra slack. CAREFULLY cut through the plastic insulation, but NOT through the wire. If you are not comfortable doing this, I suggest taking the insulation off of the wire and cutting it.

11. Take the thin "string" insulation layer (usually made of string) off of the wire for about 1cm from where it exits the plastic insulation. This can be done easily by burning it off with a lighter. Do not heat the wire so much that it begins to glow, as this will weaken the wire. Wipe the burned remains off of the wire. You can also remove this insulation be unwrapping the string. There will be 2 layers of string to unwrap.

12. Wrap the bare part of the wire around the screw on the body-cord plug. Then tighten the screw down.

13. Cut the excess wire as close as possible to the body-cord screw. Excess wire that shorts to the bell guard will result in touches not registering for you.
