Jon Daley Pic Jon Daley :
Jon was originally recruited to fencing 9 years ago through the Boise Community Education Program. Since 1996 Jon has studied under Maestro Len Carnighan (Portland, OR) learning both competitive and coaching techniques.

 
Max Callao Pic Maximo J. Callao, Ph.D. :
Max began fencing at San Jose State College in 1960. He served as fencer/coach at San Jose State and Purdue University. He was voted most valuable fencer at Purdue in 1970. He won the senior age (veterans) national foil championship in Phoenix in 1987. In 2001, he won the silver medal in the 60+ foil event at the Veterans National Championships in Louisville. He was selected to the 2001 and 2004 USA Veterans World Championship Teams and competed at the Veterans World Fencing Championships in Martinique, France and in Krems, Austria.

 
Andrew Gearhart Pic Andrew Gearhart :
Andy started fencing in 1983 in Rochester, NY. During his competitive years he was a member of cadet, junior, and senior national teams competing all over the world. He graduated from Penn State after serving as the captain of the 1995 NCAA Championship team. He has helped build and coach fencing programs in NY, PA, CA and now is excited to help here in ID. Andy loves sharing the knowledge that has been given to him over his many years involved in the sport of fencing.

 
Steve Grosz Pic Steve Grosz :
Steve begin fencing through the Community Education program about 11 years ago. After a 3 year break from fencing, he is back with the club to help teach and work on his competitive foil skills.

 
Ray Debs Pic Ray Debs :
Ray began fencing in San Jose at a Community Education program w/ Maestro John DeCesare in 1982. While in San Jose, he studied with Olympians Greg Massialas, Saul Mendoza, Gay D'Asaro, and Maestro Michael D'Asaro Sr., and studied coaching as well as competitive fencing. From 1987-1993 he was the coach of the Chico Fencing Club, and fencing instructor at the Chico Athletic Club.  In 1995, he studied under Maestro Marcos Luchetti after he moved to Sacramento. In 1997 he returned to San Jose and fenced at The Fencing Center. In March 2006 he joined Salle Boise after a 3 year break from fencing.

 
Chris Robinson Pic Chris Robinson, Ph.D. :
Chris is a veteran fencer. He has been a competitive member of Oregon State University's fencing team. He has recently returned to competitive fencing after a "time out" period of thirty years!

 
Dave Madorsky Pic Dave Madorsky :
Dave began fencing at the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1978. He studied under Maestro Charles Selberg, ex-Olympic Fencing Coach. He has recently (September 2005) returned to Salle Boise after a five-year hiatus during which he earned his Black Belt (1st degree ) in Tae Kwon Do. Having been a Seneschal of the Society for Creative Anachronisms, he is familiar with many European weapon forms as well as all three fencing weapons practiced at Salle Boise.

 
Sonia Daley :
Sonia has served as Salle Boise's President. During her tenure in 2002 she organized an outstanding Pacific Northwest Sectional Championship in Boise. She is busy raising Salle Boise's latest fencer-to-be, Aidan who was born on 12-27-02.

 
Mike Mercy, M.D. :
Mike first started fencing at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. After a 15 year hiatus, he began fencing again with Salle Boise in November of 1997. He currently continues to explore new boundaries in fencing with the help of his coach and mentors: Jon Daley and Maximo Callao.
