FENCING

OLYMPIC SPORT
WESTERN MARTIAL ART

Competitive and recreational fencing has been an active part of the Boise community for the past thirty-five years. Many fencers choose to become members of the United States Fencing Association and compete in local, divisional, sectional, national and international tournaments. Boise fencers belong to the Utah-Southern Idaho Division of the USFA. Many Boise fencers qualify and compete at the National Championships each year. Although active participation in organized competition is encouraged, the primary emphasis in learning fencing is for the understanding and appreciation of one's own development in the sport as well as the enjoyment of participating in a life-long athletic activity.

TRAINING TIMES
Monday and Wednesday 7:30pm - 9:30pm
(Instruction first hour, open fencing second hour)
Saturday 3:00pm - 6:00pm (open fencing)

Classes are available in four week sessions

Beginning fencing is an introduction to sport fencing. Equipment is provided. Intermediate and advanced sessions are open practices with supervision.

During "Workshop" sessions, only fencers who have successfully completed beginning fencing will be admitted. All intermediate and advanced fencers are expected to obtain and maintain their own fencing equipment.
